Bondivo is a dating and social app that helps you meet people nearby, chat, and build connections. This policy covers the Bondivo mobile app on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, and any related backend services. It's written to describe what Bondivo actually does — not a generic template.

01Information we collect

We collect only what's needed to run Bondivo's matching, chat, and safety features. Here's exactly what that includes.

A — Information you provide directly

  • Account information — email address, and your name, age, and gender when you create a profile. You can sign in with email/password, Google, or Apple.
  • Profile details — photos, bio, interests, personality answers, and city/location you choose to share on your profile.
  • Verification selfie — a photo taken to confirm your profile photo is really you (see Section 3 — this is handled differently from your other photos).
  • Chat content — messages, photos, videos, and voice notes you send in 1-on-1 and group conversations, and posts, comments, and reactions in groups.
  • Payment-related information — when you buy Premium, send a gift, or use Super Like. We never see or store your full card number (see Section 9).
  • Support communications — anything you send us directly, e.g. by email.

B — Information collected automatically

  • Location — your device's coordinates, used to show distance and nearby profiles (see Section 4).
  • Presence — whether you're currently active in the app, and when you were last active, shown to other users unless you turn this off in Safety & Privacy settings.
  • Usage & interaction data — likes, passes, Super Likes, matches, profile views, and which features you use, so the app and its matching can work correctly.
  • Device & diagnostic information — device model, OS version, app version, and crash/error logs.
  • Analytics — aggregated usage patterns via Firebase Analytics, to help us understand what's working and fix what isn't.

C — Information from third parties

  • Social sign-in — if you use Google or Apple to sign in, we receive the basic profile information (name, email) those platforms share with us.
  • App stores — Apple and Google share purchase confirmations with us when you buy Premium or make an in-app purchase.

⚠ We never sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone for marketing purposes. Your data is used to run and improve Bondivo — nothing else.

03Identity verification & face data

Bondivo offers profile verification: you take a live selfie, and we confirm it matches your profile photo. This uses facial geometry analysis, which is treated as sensitive biometric information under laws like Illinois' BIPA and the EU's GDPR — so we want to be specific about exactly how it works.

How it works

  • Verification is optional and only runs when you choose to start it.
  • Your profile photo and your live selfie are analyzed on your device, using on-device machine learning — this comparison does not require sending your face data to an external facial-recognition service to complete the match.
  • We use this analysis for exactly one purpose: confirming your selfie and profile photo show the same person, so other users can trust your "Verified" badge.
  • The verification selfie itself is stored so you don't have to re-verify every time you update your profile photo; you can request it be deleted along with your account at any time (Section 14).
  • We do not use your facial data for advertising, share it with data brokers, or use it to identify you anywhere outside of Bondivo.

By choosing to complete verification, you consent to this one-time facial comparison for the purpose described above. If you're located somewhere that requires a separate written biometric consent (such as Illinois), starting the verification flow in the app constitutes that consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.

04Location data

Location is core to how Bondivo works — it's what lets us show you people nearby and an honest distance on their profile.

  • Location access is requested via your device's own permission dialog; you can decline it, though Discover and distance features won't work correctly without it.
  • We use "While Using the App" access — Bondivo does not request background/"Always" location access.
  • Your precise location is used to calculate distance, but the location shown to other users on your public profile is rounded to roughly a 1 km grid, not your exact address.
  • You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; Discover will simply stop updating your distance until you grant it again.

We do not sell or share your precise location with advertisers.

05Camera, photos & voice messages

Bondivo requests device permissions only for the features that need them, at the point you use them:

  • Camera — for taking your verification selfie, and for taking photos/videos to send in chat.
  • Photo & video library — for choosing existing photos/videos for your profile or to send in chat, and for saving media someone sent you back to your own device.
  • Microphone — for recording voice messages in chat.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device settings — Bondivo will simply be unable to offer the related feature (e.g. you can't record a voice message without microphone access) without otherwise affecting the rest of the app.

06Safety, reporting & blocking

As a dating and social app, Bondivo gives you direct control over who can reach you:

  • You can block any user at any time — once blocked, that person can no longer view your profile, message you, or see your activity.
  • You can report a profile, message, or post you believe is abusive, fake, or violates our community standards.
  • We review reports and take action — including removing content and suspending or banning accounts — as quickly as we reasonably can, and we treat reports involving safety concerns as a priority.
  • We have zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, impersonation, or sexually explicit content involving anyone who has not clearly and knowingly consented to its presence on the platform.

Information related to reports (who reported what, and why) is retained as needed to act on it and to defend against misuse of the reporting system, separately from the retention rules in Section 11.

07Sharing your information

We don't share your personal data with third parties except in these situations:

  • Other Bondivo users — your public profile (photos, bio, interests, verified badge, distance) is visible to other users per your Discover/privacy settings; content you post in groups is visible to that group's members.
  • Service providers — vendors who help us run Bondivo (Firebase, Stripe — see Section 8), bound to use your data only to provide their service to us.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers — if Bondivo is ever acquired or merged, your data may transfer as part of that deal; we'll notify you first.
  • With your consent — for any other situation, we'll ask first.

08Third-party services

Bondivo is built on a small number of third-party services that each have their own privacy policy governing how they handle data:

ServicePurposePrivacy policy
Firebase (Google)Sign-in, database, storage, push notifications, analytics, crash reportingfirebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Cloud TranslationIn-chat message translation (only when you tap "Translate")policies.google.com/privacy
StripePayment processing for gifts and Super Likesstripe.com/privacy
Google Sign-InOptional sign-in methodpolicies.google.com/privacy
Sign in with AppleOptional sign-in methodapple.com/privacy
Apple App StoreApp distribution, Premium subscription billing (iOS)apple.com/privacy
Google Play StoreApp distribution, Premium subscription billing (Android)policies.google.com/privacy

We aren't responsible for these providers' own privacy practices — we encourage you to review their policies too.

09Subscriptions, gifts & payments

Bondivo offers a Premium subscription (Weekly, Monthly, or Quarterly) and optional paid extras like gifts and Super Likes. All payment processing is handled by secure, PCI-compliant providers:

  • Apple In-App Purchase — for Premium subscriptions and purchases made on iOS.
  • Google Play Billing — for Premium subscriptions and purchases made on Android.
  • Stripe — for one-off gift and Super Like purchases.

We never see or store your full card number, CVV, or bank credentials — the app store or Stripe handles the charge and only shares a purchase confirmation and user ID with us, so we know to unlock the feature you paid for.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — not through Bondivo directly, since the app store, not Bondivo, holds your subscription and billing relationship.

10Push notifications

Bondivo sends push notifications for new matches, messages, likes, and account-related updates. Your device asks for permission before we can send these.

You can turn notifications off anytime in your device settings (Settings → Notifications → Bondivo on iOS, or Settings → Apps → Bondivo → Notifications on Android) — this won't affect your ability to use the rest of the app.

11Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us), we permanently delete your profile, photos, matches, and messages.

Some information may be kept longer where we have a legitimate reason to — for example, transaction records for financial/tax compliance, or reports and moderation records tied to a safety investigation — typically for as long as reasonably necessary for that specific purpose, and no longer.

After deletion, anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer identify you may be kept for product-improvement statistics.

12Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission over HTTPS/TLS
  • Firestore Security Rules restricting who can read or write your data
  • Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in — we never store your password in plain text
  • Payment processing handled entirely by PCI-compliant providers (Apple, Google, Stripe) — Bondivo never touches your raw card details
Important

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your data, we can't guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password for your account.

13Age requirement & children's privacy

Bondivo is a dating app intended only for adults 18 years of age or older. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use Bondivo or knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If you believe a user is under 18, please report their profile immediately (Section 6). If you're a parent or guardian and believe a minor has created a Bondivo account, contact us at the email below and we will investigate and remove the account.

14Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honor these for all Bondivo users, regardless of location.

Your rights

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data, directly in-app or by emailing us.
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Restriction & objection — ask us to limit certain processing, or object to it where we rely on legitimate interest.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing depends on your consent (like verification, Section 3), withdraw it anytime without affecting what was already done.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email in Section 17. We'll respond within 30 days and may ask you to verify your identity first.

Account deletion: available directly in-app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing us. Deletion is permanent — we remove your profile, photos, matches, and messages, not just deactivate the account.

If you feel your rights haven't been respected, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

15International users

Bondivo is available to users in multiple countries. Your data may be stored and processed wherever our service providers (primarily Google Firebase) operate servers, including the United States and the European Union. By using Bondivo, you consent to this transfer and processing.

Where data crosses out of the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

California residents (CCPA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal information), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Contact us using the details in Section 17.

EEA / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Your data is processed under GDPR/UK GDPR. Our lawful bases for processing are outlined in Section 2. You have the rights described in Section 14 and may contact your local Data Protection Authority with concerns.

16Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices, technology, or legal obligations change. When we do:

  1. We update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
  2. For material changes, we'll show a notice in the app or send a notification.
  3. For changes materially affecting your rights, we may ask for renewed consent.

Continuing to use Bondivo after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
